Visions in Color #5 - Winter 2000/2001
The fifth Visions in Color event started on 26.11.2000 and will ended on 28.02.2001.
The miniature painting mailing list voted to paint is a DSA Ork Warlord from Fan Pro.
Now take a look at the miniature before the artists get their hands on it.
This picture is copyrighted by Fan Pro and is featured with official permission.
First I would like to thank the people from Fan Pro for their generous sponsoring of the event by providing the miniature for the members of the mini-painter Mailinglist.
I would also like to thank my team of helpers that helped me a lot to with the processing of the pictures and the handling of the entries. So thanks Paolo Guion, Eduardo Alexandre, and Mark Daymude.
The sculptor of the miniature, Werner Klocke, has written some comments to all participants. You can find these below the gallere on this page.
Visions in Color comments by the sculptor Werner Klocke
First off, I would like to thank you for all the praise, but also for the critique. Some participants had some problems with the pose. I wanted to implement a different pose with this Ork warlord: he already struck down his opponent and is going to charge into the next one. This is of course no "classical" GW pose, sorry.
And there we are on topic. I noticed, that a lot of you used similar color combinations (green, red and black metal). Also some conversions show that many are strongly fixed on GW. That is OK - I have been big collector of GW miniatures myself - but that is a pity too. Hey, where are your own ideas and creativity ? But all in all there are a lot, very nice entries. Sadly to many to comment every single one here.
Of course I especially noticed the funny conversion from Dominic Heutelbeck. What the heck has he left from my miniature ? PS: When I sculpted the Ork in 1998 there was no Grinch. Did they steal the design from me ? give me the licenses ;-).
Catherine Klinger has a very nice color selection, few but very effective.
The conversion from Babs is impressive. PS: That gem has been taken from a elven victim.
Marko Siitonen has chosen a very nice color. I like the idea to paint the armor in non-metallic colors.
A "conversion" only with colors from Jennifer Haley. I really looks as if I had sculpted a scale armor. Great.
Noora Hirvonen. Hey, what did you do with my Ork ?? ;)
I also like the KISS Ork from Simon Jones a lot.
There are a lot of participants with great ideas. It was a lot of fun to behold all of them. Keep on with the good work.
