Hi, my name is Dominic Heutelbeck and I am from Hagen in Germany and was born on 27.11.1973.
Currently I am studying computer science at the University of Dortmund. My main interests in computer science are evolutionary algorithms, esp. genetic programming, and parallel computing. I have been working on a genetic programming system for learning Boolean functions for my master thesis. Now I am fighting through my final exams and hope to finish my studies soon.
One of my hobbies, maybe more than that, are martial arts. I am studying Jiu-Jitsu for over ten years now and learn something new in every training.
I developed the love for painting miniatures in the last six years. I started with some miniatures much earlier, but soon quit. But then six years ago I started to play some Warhammer Fantasy Battle, and my High Elves needed some paint. But visiting some painting workshops, conventions and attending some painting contests, really got me into the deeper regions of miniature painting, moving me away a bit from the actual wargaming. Now I hosted some painting workshops and contests myself. I like to paint single miniatures much more than to paint regiments. I try to do them right, and to learn as much as possible and to get better in every technique. Each paint job is just a practice for the next one. It has become quite similar to martial arts for me.
I am also into role playing games. I especially like the Warhammer
fantasy role playing game (WFRP) and legends of the five rings (L5R).
I have a WFRP campaign running for more than an year now. My players
have just finished the legendary enemy within campaign.
I am into life role playing too. I have been organizing several small scale LARPs in cooperation with the local youth welfare department. On this picture you can see me dressed up as a NPC chaos warrior who made life hard for the PCs (Look at that sword and take into account that I am 1,91m tall).
And it is quite obvious, that I am interested in other computer and internet things. Why else should I create such a site.
And this will probably be me, after some witch hunters out of the dark regions of the internet community got me and try to cleanse me from my heretic ramblings about painting ;-)

Here you can see some shots from the "Spiel 2000" convention in Essen (Germany) where I met with a lot of people from the miniature painting mailinglist. Click on the thumbnails for a larger version.
