This showcase was inspired by the original Visions in Color showcase and it was proposed and is managed by Harry Colquhoun.
This Visions in Putty event started on 01.07.2000 and ended on 31.10.2000.
The topic of this VIP is a gladiator figure. This may be freely interpreted, so it may be a SF, fantasy or historical gladiator of any scale.
Before you ask: No, this set of figures is not for sale anywhere and only a number of castings from every figure equal to the number of participants of the VIP showcase have been produced. These figures are now in the hands of the participants. The sculptors still have the right to sell their figure to any miniature company. So some of these figures may appear somewhere for sale, but a lot of them never will. Also the sculptors will not be able to provide copies of their figures, since the molds are no longer available.
Here you can see how a mold is prepared.
Here you can see the cutting of the mold and how the casting is done.
Here you can see how the greens look after the molding process.
All participants would like to thank Jeff Valent (from Jeff Valent Studios) and Jeff Rodman (from Fortress Figures) for their generous supply of mold making, casting and shipping of the figures for every sculptor.
