Here's a brief write up of what I did:

The only thing I knew I wanted to do was paint her with red demon-flesh and blonde hair (I'd seen the "blonde with red" look in a comic book and it looked nice - besides, black hair was cliche ;^). I also wanted her to have an "evil" look, so I went with darker colors than I usually paint. Other than that, the colors kind of came up as I went along ;^) Purple seemed a good choice, since it goes with both red and yellow, and black was used for the details and weapons to keep up the 'evil' scheme.

I usually don't modify minis too much, but even though I liked this figure, I hated the weapons, so I ditched them and added new ones from Reaper's "Weapons Pack #1". I also added an old RAFM base I had lying around - I never had a mini that needed a ring of skulls more than this one!

Painting it was pretty straight-forward. I blended red to yellow-orange for the flesh (with creepy glossy-black bug eyes ;^) The hair was a pain, since it didn't come out quite the way I wanted it to - it still looks too "drybrushy" to me, even after a few ink washes... I added black paint, with lots of gloss, for her boots and gloves (from Robert's technique) - they came out great in real life, but you can't really see the boots too well in the front shots.

The base was the most difficult part of painting the mini - I originally thought I'd paint the rocks to look like amethyst, to get an exotic look, but the purple ended up looking like magenta purple metal ~8^O - not very evil. Then I thought, heck, there's yellow in the wings, so maybe 'gold' would work. That was too bright! So I finally thought of red-black - looks evil and is appropriate to a demon. Now it looks like she's fighting a war in Hell or something...

Finally, I added trompe l'oeil shading to the axe head - it doesn't really have recessed areas next to the blade edges. Again, it comes out nicer in person than through the photos :^(
